Course Contents
These basic techniques are great preliminary exercises for learning to roll.
At the same time, however, they can also help to prevent capsizing or rolling in tippy positions!
Mastering side sculling and the balance brace will allow many layback rolls to be performed.
In the course we first practice side-sculling, but above all we want to work on the Balance Brace with the support of the Avataq; jDepending on your progress, you can also use a Balance Brace with a paddle, Norsaq or without any tools at all.
If that's not enough:
Chest sculling and butterfly sculling are wonderful pre-exercises for front-end rolls like the reverse sweep roll or storm roll. Here you need good abdominal muscles :-)
We start with a yoga session to warm up.
This is followed by a brief introduction to theory on land and lots of practice on the water.
Since we spend a lot of time with our heads under water, a nose clip is recommended at the beginning, but not necessary.
A kayak can be hired for this course on request.
