Course Contents
This course primarily teaches the Standard Greenland Roll (Layback Roll) for beginners.
A good preparation for the layback roles are "side sculling" and "balance brace" (see Intro course).
If time and roll progression allows, we'll look at the Butterfly Roll (Pakkalussatut) and other layback rolls.
We start in the morning with a small yoga session to warm up.
This is followed by a short theory session and a lot of practice on the water.
Since we spend a lot of time with our heads in and under water, a nose clip is recommended at the beginning, but not necessary.
A kayak can be hired for this course on request.
Requirements
- safe swimming in paddling gear
- safe underwater exit with spray deck without outside help
- basic paddling experiences
- no rolling experience is necessary for this course
- adequate cold protection (dry suit or tuilik)
- if you bring your own kayak with you it should should be very flat behind the cockpit
